TRANSLATION
An eye for detail
LanguageLink is your trusted partnerfor high-stakes specialized translation and localization
A truly good translation is built on a commitment to fidelity and accuracy combined with deep subject-matter expertise. With our vetted team and ISO 17100 certification, LanguageLink ensures quality, consistency, and scalability through robust systems including translation memory and terminology management while always prioritizing accuracy, clarity, and regulatory compliance.
At LanguageLink, we focus on quality over quantity, taking on clients in industries where we can offer the highest value with our people and solutions. In various fields including investment and retail banking, sustainability reporting, pharmaceuticals production, technology, tourism, real estate, and public policy, we deliver translations that strike the right tone and speak directly to your specific audience.
The Lingua, Pharma, and Fin lines
Based on the differing competencies and expertise required for our key client groups, we offer three specific service lines – each in a Core and Cert version depending on whether you require the full ISO 17100 process (Cert) or a lower-cost and faster alternative with leaner resource allocation (Core).
LinguaCore and LinguaCert cover a wide range of fields including technical documentation, sustainability reporting, annual reports, investor relations, corporate communication, real estate, advertising, tourism, public policy, and contract and administrative law.
PharmaCore and PharmaCert reflect our specialization in the highly regulated pharmaceutical industry, where we have decades of experience in areas including clinical studies, SOPs, master batch records and batch records, deviation and CAPA management, inspection reports, qualification protocols, facility specifications, product descriptions, and technical documentation.
FinCore and FinCert are tailored to the various financial institutions that we are proud to serve. Our expert linguists competently translate a wide range of content from advertising and customer information to financial market updates, annual and half-yearly fund reports, fund rules, SFDR disclosures, PRIIPs key information documents, and national banking and investment laws.
The people behind our solutions
We would not be able to deliver on our promises without our dedicated in-house staff and highly qualified partners. All linguists translate and revise exclusively from the source language into their native language and proofread in their native languages, and must fulfill a predefined qualification matrix for their role covering aspects such as university education, language competency, usage of CAT tools and other software, and translation or professional experience in a variety of sectors.
We are committed to building stable teams and preserving know-how over the long term. To this end, we work in a targeted manner to continuously improve the capabilities of our translators and project managers and also provide attractive working conditions and fair pay to maintain a pool of highly qualified linguists.
Our flat hierarchy and strong personal commitment mean you always have dedicated partners invested in your success – speaking with your voice to help you achieve your global communication goals.
What is localization?
In many cases, a translation should read like a text written by a native speaker who is familiar with the practices, customs, and dialect of the target audience and who is able to formulate and structure the text so that it achieves the intended effect. This goes beyond the mere transposition of information in a grammatically and syntactically correct manner and tailors a text for a specific group of people and for a specific purpose. LanguageLink applies a localization approach by default to amplify and tailor the impact of your content.
CAT computer-aided translation
The founders of LanguageLink have employed computer-aided translation (CAT) since the late 1990s and have kept pace with and leveraged the many improvements in this technology over the past decades. CAT is distinct from machine translation in that all translations are created and verified by humans, and then stored in dedicated databases for future reuse. This reduces translation costs over time and means shorter turnaround times for many projects. CAT also ensures that every piece of content speaks with a consistent brand voice.
We create separate, access-controlled memories and termbases for each client to ensure that the correct specific wording and terminology are used in all cases. This also affords data compartmentalization, where we only permit translators currently completing work for a given client to access the resources for that client for the duration of that particular project.
Another key benefit of CAT systems is comprehensive terminology management. We create and maintain termbases as we work, while also incorporating any glossaries and input provided by the client, and are automatically presented with the proper terminology as we work. This guarantees accuracy and the use of the proper technical terms, brand names, and legal or industry-specific phrasing, and also contributes to brand consistency across all pieces of content.
More recent generations of CAT systems also offer robust quality assurance functions. These reliably identify potential errors such as numerical mismatches, missing format tags, and incorrect or undesired terminology – allowing the translator and revisor to focus more on higher-cognition issues.
We employ a dedicated CAT server environment that ensures the secure and efficient management of all linguistic assets and client projects and that allows secure collaboration with partners around the globe.
Workflow management
In order to understand your objectives, we place a focus on clarifying your specific requirements. This enables us to provide a truly tailored service, adapting to your workflow rather than imposing our own.
Wherever possible, we build efficient systems that eliminate manual data transfer between your content creation systems and our translation systems. This is often possible through our support for virtually all common file and data formats. Other times, this requires the creation of custom data exchange filters based on XML. The goal is always to eliminate bottlenecks and manual data entry and thus lower your processing time, preclude potential sources of error, and reduce your risk.
Data protection and confidentiality
Our data protection and confidentiality policies meet or exceed our most stringent client requirements. All data is stored and all project management and CAT functions are hosted within a secure server environment. We employ strict data handling protocols, with access to files granted strictly on a need-to-know basis so that only the involved project managers or translators have access to specific files. For all data identified as sensitive by our clients, we employ end-to-end encryption via dedicated servers or secure SFTP channels. Additionally, all staff and suppliers are required to sign strict non-disclosure agreements that remain in force indefinitely. We also ensure full compliance with the GDPR.
ISO 17100 certification and our quality mindset
ISO 17100 is an international standard that specifies requirements for all aspects of the translation process including qualifications of translators, project management, and quality assurance to ensure consistent and high-quality translation services. We are ISO 17100 certified by qualityaustria.
ISO 17100 sets out several fundamental requirements for translation service providers. First, it mandates that translators possess appropriate qualifications, such as a recognized translation degree or equivalent professional experience. The standard also requires clear project management procedures, including the assignment of qualified personnel and the maintenance of transparent communication with clients throughout the process. Additionally, ISO 17100 specifies that all translations must undergo thorough quality assurance such as revision by a second linguist (dual control) to ensure accuracy and consistency. Finally, it includes guidelines for data security, confidentiality, and the management of client information, aligning with best practices for professional translation services.
For us, this ISO standard provides a highly effective framework for our long-established systemic quality approach and mindset.
